August 2008 As a woman working my way through menopause, I found it difficult and unappealing to begin a weight-loss and exercise program. What I needed was a jump-start and motivation. To begin with, the motivation came from the Trainers; later, I received the motivation for my continuing weight loss. The Jump-Start I needed was the Living Thin Program at THE Women’s Gym. The Trainers offered a lifestyle change through their diet and exercise plan which, although challenging, I was ready to attempt because I wanted to be "healthy". The meal plan consisted of a low carb/ high, healthy protein combination along with vegetables, supplements, and fresh water. It was only for 2 weeks, so I thought I could tolerate it. The Trainers gave us all the information we needed to plan our meals and our behavior changes. These changes also included private, one-on-one personal training sessions once a week. The trainers individualized our trainings to push us to our potential. Lo and behold I lost 10.5 pounds at the first weigh-in! This initial weight loss propelled me to continue the meal plan and be faithful to my personal training. After losing 40.5 pounds, I am more than halfway to my goal weight, and I already feel I have accomplished a transformation into a "healthy" person! I have learned that discipline, consistency and determination pay off. I get support from all the Living Thin members, as well as the entire gym.
